Eskisehir is situated in the northwest of Central Anatolian Region. Its neighbours are Blacksea in the north, Marmara in the northwest, and Aegean Region in the west and southwest. A small part of Seyitgazi, which is one of the towns of Eskisehir, is under the influence of Aegean Region. The whole Sarıcakaya town, the central Eskisehir, and a part of Mihalıccık town are under the influence of Blacksea Region. However, Eskisehir takes its geographical characteristics generally from Cental Anatolian Region. In the province of which the mountains constitutes about %22, the percentage of the plains is about %26 among the landforms.
The plains in the Sakarya and Porsuk basins, and the mountains which surround them constitute the topographical structure of Eskisehir, which takes place in the northwest of Central Anatolia. The plains of the river basins are surrounded by Bozdag-Sundiken montainrange in the north, Turkmen Mountain, Yazılakaya Plateau, and Emirdag in the west and south which take place in the east edge of West Central Anatolia.
The valleys have generally been deepened as the result of erosion by outer factors for long time. The slopes of the valleys are slightly inclined, and the erosion on the slopes is strong. In the province, where the hill ridges are low and rounded except the new formations, closed basins are hardly seen. There is a continious inclination towards the sea.
Eskisehir is an industry city with its industruial zone and two small separate industry sites. From farming based industry to making locomotive and planes, hundreds of business firms provides employment for the young population in different industries in Eskisehir. Meerschaum, which is peculiar with Eskisehir, is known as white gold all around the world.
In Eskisehir, which is an education town, besides the dormitories of Credit and Hostels Institutions, a lot of private dormitories are also available. The guest houses of public organizations provides accommodation to visitors coming to Eskisehir, too. These guest houses provides accommodation to guests almost in all statutes.
