Orthopedic Prosthetics Orthotics Program

1. General Information

Our school Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Program for education and training started in 1990-1991 academic year. Program has a quota of 70 students.

The aim of the program in the associate degree vocational school of health services  is to give a comprehensive associate degree that provides to the students to train at a professional level of Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Technician, are trained making assistive devices (orthoses), eye prostheses and epithesis (ear , nose, facial prostheses) for patients who has disorders of the musculoskeletal system or losing all or part of arms or legs.

 

2. Qualification

After successful completion of the program, students are given associate degree diplomas in the field of Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics.

 

3. Level of Qualification

Associate degree.

 

4. Specific Admission Requirements

General admission requirements for Turkish and foreign students are acceptable to begin the program.

 

5. Recognition of Prior Learning

In Turkısh Higher Education Institutions, recognition of prior learning, vertical, horizontal and in-house transfers take place in the scope of ‘’ UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS AND HİGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS SWITCH BETWEEN PROGRAMS, DOUBLE MAJOR, MİNOR AND MAKING TRANSFER BETWEEN CREDIT INSTITUTIONS BASIS OF REGULATION’’ which is determined by The Council of Higher Education.

In Turkey, apart from formal education institutions, an exemption exam is held for some computer and foreign language courses at the beginning of each academic year within the context of recognizing certificate or experience- based learning. Those who pass these exams are exempt from aforesaid courses in the curriculum.

 

6. Qualification Requirements and Regulations

A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meeting a minimum of 120/240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00 and no FF, FZ or YZ grades.

 

7. Profile of the Program

9. Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Orthopedic Prosthetics and Orthotics Graduates: They  perform their duties in  section of Prosthetics - Orthotics in hospitals, special workshops, or work at companies that sell medical supplies or may place your own business

 

10. Access to Further Studies

Students continue their graduate education with DGS exam. They complete license program in  Biomedical Engineering, Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Degree programs.

15. Department/Program Facilities

There are fully equipped with a capacity of 340 students Orthopedic Prosthetic-Orthotic Workshop, eye and prosthetic Orthotic Laboratory, Rehabilitation room. There are support of the Faculty of Medicine Faculty Members / staff  and  Faculty of Education, Faculty of Arts and Sciences for program courses. Students applications is done  in Orthopedic Prosthetics-Orthotics Workshop
