1. General Information
In the Special Education Teaching programme within the department, compulsory, field knowledge, special education professional knowledge, general culture and application courses are included. The aim of the programme is to train special education teachers equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills, aiming to enable individuals with special needs to be independent, active and productive in social life.

Students who successfully complete the programme are awarded a bachelor's degree in teaching profession.

General admission requirements for Turkish and foreign students are valid for starting the programme
5. Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of prior formal learning in Turkish Higher Education institutions, vertical, horizontal and intra-university transfers are carried out within the scope of the "REGULATION ON THE PRINCIPLES OF TRANSFER BETWEEN PROGRAMMES AT ASSOCIATE AND UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS, DOUBLE MAJOR, MINOR AND CREDIT TRANSFER BETWEEN INSTITUTIONS" determined by the Higher Education Council.
In Turkey, exemption exams are held at the beginning of each academic term for some computer and foreign language courses within the scope of recognition of certificate-based or experience-based learning outside formal education institutions. Students who take the exam and are successful are exempted from the relevant courses in the curriculum.
6. Qualification Requirements and Rules
The student must have passed all the courses in the programme and must not have FF, DZ or YZ grades. In this programme, the student must have a minimum of 240/120 ECTS credits and a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

1 Defines concepts, terms, methods, techniques, principles and theories related to special education.
2 Evaluates the level of students before starting teaching and shares the results with parents and administrators; prepares and uses individualised education and transition plans according to these results.
3 Uses the knowledge and skills related to the field in his/her profession and daily life within the framework of legal and ethical rules.
4 Provides support to individuals with special needs and their families by using information technologies at basic level (European Computer Driving Licence Advanced Level) for teaching and research purposes.
5 Develops solutions when faced with unforeseen situations in applications related to special education and teaching profession.
6 Uses learning to learn, self-regulation, critical thinking, creative thinking skills for the purpose.
7 Examines scientific products related to special education and teaching profession and / or creates new products.
8 Participates in seminars, conferences, workshops, etc. related to the field by exhibiting positive attitudes and behaviours towards lifelong learning.
9 To be able to follow new developments in the field of special education and teaching profession and work in collaboration with colleagues.
10 Uses basic level (European Language Portfolio B1 General Level) foreign language knowledge to access the information he / she needs about his / her field.
11 Prepares, implements and manages plans and projects according to the socio-cultural and economic characteristics of the environment where students live in special education studies. Shares the results with relevant people and institutions.
12 Defines family education and guidance.
13 Uses effective communication skills in working with individuals with special needs, their families and other specialists.
14 Uses his/her knowledge and skills efficiently to provide communication and social skills to individuals with special needs and to increase their social acceptance.
15 Has sufficient awareness of the universality of social rights, social justice, quality culture and protection of cultural values, environmental protection, occupational health and safety and uses these values in his/her profession and daily life.
16 Makes arrangements in line with all the characteristics (additional disability, health problems, etc.) and needs of the students.
17 Understands the processes of applied behaviour analysis.
18 Analyses the process of preparing individuals with special needs for independent living.
19 Plans and carries out the teaching process according to the individual characteristics of the students.
20 Uses art, games and sports activities in the teaching process.
1. Employment Opportunities of Graduates
Students who complete the programme have the opportunity to work in private and public schools and private special education and rehabilitation centres affiliated to the Ministry of National Education.
9. Access to Higher Degree Programmes
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study in graduate programmes in their own fields or related fields, provided that they have a valid score from ALES or equivalent exams and have sufficient foreign language knowledge.
