1. General Information

Biology depertmant start activity in constitution of Anadolu University Art and Science Faculty between 1982-1983. Since 1993, it has been continuing education in constitution of Eskişehir Osmangazi University. Biology depertmant includes 6 different depertmants, Botany; General Biology; Hydrobiology; Molecular Biology; Basic and Industrial Microbiology and Zoology. Aim of the depertmant is that educating a biologist who investigate the structure, organization, function, diversity and interaction of living organism scientifically; has ability of probing the results and presenting outcomes; has enough knowledge and ability to satisfy the need of sector; has ability to contact between the discipline and stale team work; adopt the importance of life long learning, internalize ethical rules; has open mind to cominicate; has entrepreneur and modern charecter. At department four yeared license programme, post graduate and doctor's degree are given. Biological knowledge is thought to the licence students both theorical and pratical. At firstly half of education, 4 semesters, basic knowledge of biology; at fallowing semesters selective courses which helps graduate students to increase their abilities and knowledge have being thought.

Bachelor's Degree in Biology is given to students who successfully end the programme.

General admission requirements of programme are valid for enroll the programme to domestic and foreign students.

5. Recognition of Former Education

Permutation between associate degree and licence degree; gradation , double major and side branch at higer education establishment and transfer of credits depents on the regulations.

6. Competency Requirements and Terms

To be sufficient; students have to be succesfull in all courses and olso shouldn’t have FF, DZ or YZ. Students in this programme should have to minimum 240/120 ECTS credits and 2,00/4,00 grade point average. 20 day training course is compulsory.

7. Objectives of the Program

Aim of the depertmant is that educating a biologist who investigate the structure, organization, function, diversity and interaction of living organism scientifically; has ability of probing the results and presenting outcomes; has enough knowledge and ability to satisfy the need of sector; has ability to contact between the discipline and stale team work; adopt the importance of life long learning, internalize ethical rules; has open mind to cominicate; has entrepreneur and modern charecter.

Basic aims of the depertmant is that teaching students who can portraiture; explain; practise; decide; has abilities and skills to teach of basic principles of Botany; General Biology; Hydrobiology; Molecular Biology; Basic and Industrial Microbiology and Zoology; has authority and liability that are given by codes. Departmant educate their students to use their knowledge at many fields that use biological knowledge.

The depertmant interacts with Ministry of Development; TUBITAK; Ministry of National Education; Ministry of Health; Ministry of Science, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Industry and Technolgy; universities; research institutes.

8. Program Competencies (Learning Outcomes)

Applies the knowledge in the field of basic sciences on the processes related to living organisms and the ecosystem.
Correlates functions of the organization and structure with the main examples of biological diversity elements.
Classifies the biological diversity elements according to their similarities and differences and gives priority to the protection of them.
Analyzes the interaction of organisms with their environment.
Identifies problems from environmental and organisms sources and suggests solutions for these problems.
Produces alternatives for Bio-based product development and production processes.
Works in the industries that use biologically-based methods.
Gives priority to the health and environmental safety on the processes related to sustainable development.
Susceptible to the team work.
Uses the science and the scientific method as guide and aware of professional ethical issues.
Able to communicate effectively.
Knows at least one language to follow up the knowledge in the field.
Use information technologies effectively as part of the life.
Contributes to projects related to social responsibility by considering national priorities.
Displays a positive attitude to lifelong learning

9. Careers

Graduates of our department will be able to work in state instutions and organizations (Health Department, Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs), privite schools, schoolrooms, research institues, laboratories, food industry, medical and agricultural pharmaceutical industry and national parks as Biologist, Teacher, Technical Staff, Researcher (r&d center), Quality Controller, Quality Assurance Specialist and Marketing expert.

10. Further Study

Applicant who has finished graduate successfully have chance to attend to the high level program due to take enough mark from ALES or the equivalent exams.
